Chrysanthe Filippardos has taught Modern Greek at Columbia University since 2019. Prior to Columbia, she taught at the New School.
She was born in Detroit to immigrant parents who repatriated to Rhodes, Greece, where she obtained her BA in Education from the University of the Aegean. She worked at the University of the Aegean as an assistant to Prof. Eleni Skourtou, where she was a member of her research team on bilingualism and education. She later moved to New York, where she earned her MA in Linguistics from the CUNY Graduate Center.
She has taught at elementary schools in Greece, parochial schools in New York, and the Hellenic Classical Charter School. She is currently teaching at Long Island City High School in Astoria.
