The Columbia University Department of Classics offers M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. degrees in Classics. On this section of the website, students, prospective applicants, and visitors will find detailed information regarding the programs offered by the department and the many amenities available to our graduate students. Please see the Classics Graduate Student Handbook for more information about the Graduate Program.

Applications to graduate programs are administered through the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.

For all further information, please contact Gareth Williams (GDW5@columbia.edu), John Ma (jtm2179@columbia.edu), or any member of the faculty in Columbia Classics. As always, we welcome inquiries about graduate work and the department more generally.

The Department of Classics is currently offering to assist with the costs of required books for students in our classes, in case of need or hardship. All students in classes offered by the Columbia and Barnard Classics Departments are eligible, regardless of college, degree path, or level.
