The Annual Meeting for Postgraduates in the Reception of the Ancient World (AMPRAW) is an international itinerant conference aimed at bringing together early-career researchers in the field of classical reception, thus creating within the field a cooperative network with a focus on inclusive and innovative approaches to the discipline. We are pleased to announce that our Department will be the first to host AMPRAW outside of Europe. The theme of this year's conference is "Center and Periphery in the Classics: Theory, Practice and Turning Points," and it aims at bringing together different perspectives on how to destabilize issues of centrality and hegemony, while foregrounding aspects of the study of antiquity previously relegated to the periphery.
The meeting will take place at Columbia University; however, per the University's health and safety guidelines, only CUID and Barnard ID holders are allowed to attend in person. The event will take place at the Faculty House (64 Morningside Drive), in these rooms:
- on Thursday 11/11, Garden Room 2 (1 pm - 6 pm)
- on Friday 11/12, Presidential Ballroom (9 am - 6:30 pm)
- on Saturday 11/13, Seminar Ballroom (9 am - 7 pm)
Please note that you will be asked to show your Columbia green pass and proof of vaccination in order to attend the conference in person. Since the rooms have limited capacity, please secure a spot by filling out this form if you wish to participate in person.
Otherwise, the event will be hybrid in format, so that everyone who wishes to attend might do so by using this Zoom link. Please feel free to share among your networks.
